#172 Mandrake: Convenient Convention Vent Convening

0172mandrake19_strategy.gif

Krys is a superhero and all, but Mandrake’s quite a useful ally in an emergency.

Krys’s face appears between the slats of a small cooling vent in the ballroom wall, behind where Mandrake is standing.
KRYS: Pssst!
Mandrake casually walks away.
KRYS: Where the hell is he going?
Mandrake approaches a pregnant woman.
MANDRAKE: Miss Pasha, you must be uncomfortable. Come sit in the air conditioning.
Sitting in front of the vent, Mandrake puts a consoling hand on Miss Pasha’s arm.
MANDRAKE: Miss Pasha, I need you to remain nonchalant even when you hear a disembodied voice in 3, 2, 1…
KRYS: They’ve infiltrated the lower floors. All the exits are blocked.
MANDRAKE: Not necessarily. I have taken the precaution of stowing a spare helicopter on the roof.
KRYS: Great! I can clear a path to the stairwell no problem. The guards in here will be more of a challenge, but…
MANDRAKE: Not necessarily. I have already formulated an elaborate but foolproof plan involving the sleeping powder I always keep in my interior pocket.
KRYS: Great! Then we’re home free!
MANDRAKE: …Not necessarily. They’ve got Philharmonic.
