#188 Kind Of A Lateral Move

I just keep going and going with this teaser. It’s going to be like halfway through the storyline before you guys get a cover page.

In the original version of this story, Lance and Eskimo lived in a high rise, and Caryn (a much less rock star version; pretty much just a blonde with a nose stud) was their new neighbor. I made her Jeria’s sister in order to explain what she’s doing in the house, but I have a vague feeling that Jeria (or perhaps Theology Girl?) had kind of a punk sister or cousin or something, but in a cursory check of random old sketchbooks I can find no reference to it, so maybe I dreamed it.

Caryn is exactly the kind of rock star I would be. Actually, she kind of looks like me, too. Autobiographical???? (I am neither Aquarius nor ambidextrous nor bicurious, though.)

Technical note: I’m experimenting with drawing on graph paper. Do the gutters look straighter to you?

JERIA: Meet my little sister Caryn. She is a certified accountant.
CARYN: Not anymore. I’m a rock star.
JERIA: Stop saying that. You don’t play an instrument, or sing, or have any musical talent.
CARYN: I have style. Flair. Panache. I’m Glam.
JERIA: Meet my sister Caryn, an aspiring, untalented glam rock front woman slash former CPA. Did I leave anything out?
CARYN: Aquarius. Ambidextrous. Bicurious.
ESKIMO: Eskimo Jones, mighty pirate.
LANCE: Lance. Charmed.

I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned this to you before, but your Previous and Next links are counter-intuitive! Next goes to the right, unless you’re reading Hebrew. Is that it? Is Lance and Eskimo in secret Hebrew (sebrew)?

That is why I clarified by putting “the comic before this one” and “the comic after this one” (I was testing to double-check ‘previous’ and ‘next’ meant what I thought it did, and it stuck). The problem is either that I am dumb or that wordpress is really hard to customize in some surprising ways. I can’t figure out how to fix it.

Technical comment! I only really noticed the straightening of the gutters when you mentioned it.

    Yeah, it’s kind of subtle.

I see you’ve read a bunch of comics over the weekend! Thanks for commenting! :D
